Even though many of our graduates will have progressed in their careers since completing a case study, they are still of interest to students who wish to gain an understanding of the world of work.

About the job

Main responsibilities

Working on the Search and Homepage web team. We create the BBC Domestic homepage (bbc.co.uk) as well as provide the Search functionality (bbc.co.uk/search) on iPlayer, Sounds, Sport and News.

Typical day

The team has a 15 minute stand-up every morning.
We also have planning meetings and also monitor our applications operationally.
Majority of time is writing and configuring software.

What do I enjoy about my job?

I love being able to create a product that has an impact to millions of users across the UK.


Career information

Brief history since leaving University

Completed Cyber Security Graduate Scheme at BT in London and Manchester.

Been on a 1 week QA Linux System Administration course.

Joined BBC in September after applying for a Software Engineering role.

Where do I see myself in the future?

Becoming a tech lead, managing a team of Software Engineers working on large web applications.
