Head of Economics

Even though many of our graduates will have progressed in their careers since completing a case study, they are still of interest to students who wish to gain an understanding of the world of work.

About the job

Main responsibilities

I am responsible for teaching A-Level Economics and leading a team of three Economics teachers. I am also a personal tutor to ten A-Level students choosing their university courses.

Typical day

A typical day will consist of teaching two hour lessons and seeing personal tutees. My day also includes managing the Economics team and administration duties.

What do I enjoy about my job?

No two days are the same. It is a constantly changing and challenging job.

Why did this area of work appeal to me?

Practising in the subject area that I am deeply interested in and seeing students develop into their chosen career paths.

Career information

Brief history since leaving University

I worked in finance in London for two years after completing my masters. I then switched careers and pursued my passion for education. I completed my PGCE in Post-Compulsory education in 2015 at the Institute of Education.

Where do I see myself in the future?

I am planning to study for a PhD in Economics within the next five years. I will continue my career in education and progress onto the next stage of management.
