Graduate case studies
Even though many of our graduates will have progressed in their careers since completing a case study, they are still of interest to students who wish to gain an understanding of the world of work.
Enhancing the productivity of manufacturing processes
7:30 - arrive at the office and check emails
8:00 - meet with engineers
12:00 - lunch break
13:00 - visit a plant
15:00 - meet with project team members
17:00 - make materials for reports to managers
20:00 - return home
Being able to know new technologies
Need to understand engineering logic even though it's hard to catch up.
Need to deal with things in a timely manner, and sometimes need to work very long hours
Data analysis and basic OA skills
It was 2-3 months after my graduation that I started to job hunt in Japan.
As I was quite interested in the automotive industry I applied to automotive makers and dealers. I thought it would be also suitable for me to find jobs where I could use my English language skills, so I applied to some trading companies as well.
I got three offers in total, and I chose the one I'd wanted to work in for ages!
I will work in the same industry, unsure whether I'll change my company or not though. So far, I like the current company and plan to work here for another 5 years.
