Main responsibilities

Financial management, logistics organisation of scientific forums and conferences, scientific presentation preparation

Typical day

Making and updating cost-trackers, sending emails to medical opinion leaders, organising event logistics e.g. travel

What do I enjoy about my job?

I am surrounded by the latest science and get to learn about it
I get to combine my scientific background with other skills

Why did this area of work appeal to me?

I get to use the knowledge and skills from my degree outside of a lab setting
I get to use skills learnt through my time running a youth charity
I get to be sociable and interact a lot with others

Brief history since leaving University

I worked in bars and coffee shops for 9 months after my degree

Probably progressing in the same industry


Advice to students

My piece of advice to students

Have a plan of work for the year after your degree e.g. teaching abroad or bar work to take a breather and decide what you want to do and you can use that time to apply for jobs you really want instead of rushing.
