Graduate case studies
Even though many of our graduates will have progressed in their careers since completing a case study, they are still of interest to students who wish to gain an understanding of the world of work.
As a Conference Producer I am responsible for the overall organisation and success of an event. My main duties include researching conference programmes with companies and individuals from the ICT industry, writing a conference agenda, inviting and confirming speakers, liaising with external organisations - sponsors and media partners and running an event on site.
Developing marketing collateral - copy, website updates and press releases

Inviting and confirming speakers
Speaker communication
Internal briefs on events
Prepping speaking and chairman
Liasing with hotels and venues
I enjoy the research aspect of my job, similar to preparing for an essay, exams or dissertation I'm able to really throw myself in to a new topic or industry to learn as much as possible.
When working in new regions or on new events I also get to travel several times a year, for example I will be visiting India and Africa several times this year.
Managing my workload and the demands of so many different events can be rather challenging at times, so working late/coming in to work early is needed during busy times of the year
As a Conference Producer I get to put my organisational skills to the test as I work on over 10 large scale events a year. Not only am I able to research and learn about the ICT industry and its impact on the economic and social development of commonwealth nations, I am also able to work on events that truly make a difference to member nations
