Even though many of our graduates will have progressed in their careers since completing a case study, they are still of interest to students who wish to gain an understanding of the world of work.

About the job

Main responsibilities

Run the branch on a day to day basis, expand the business, maintain high customer service levels. Increase the branches profit and income levels.

Typical day

Conducting appointments, creating new business, tasking my staff with their jobs for the day, dealing with enquiries or complaints, processing move-ins, etc.

What do I enjoy about my job?

That I provide a good customer service and work hard for all my clients. I also really enjoy working with the team I lead.

Challenging aspects

Having enough hours in the day!

Why did this area of work appeal to me?

I love working with property and the general public.

Skills/qualifications I use in my job?

Negotiating skills, legal knowledge, managerial skills, sales skills and dealing with figures/accounts.

Training I receive as part of my job

We have on-going training covering various aspects of the role.


Career information

Brief history since leaving University

I have had this job since I leaving uni, nearly 4 years, apart from a time in between that I spent working in Gibraltar where I gained some life skills.

Where do I see myself in the future?

I want to develop my skills to either project management or facilities management level.


Advice to students

My piece of advice to students

Apply to as many things as you can, volunteer where you can in relevant fields. If you want somethig enough, offer to work for less than you think you are worth, then prove yourself. Do not expect to be handed something just because you have a degree.
