Graduate case studies
Even though many of our graduates will have progressed in their careers since completing a case study, they are still of interest to students who wish to gain an understanding of the world of work.
Running complex commercial legal disputes; meeting with clients; drafting court documents; representing clients in court in front of a judge.
A typical day runs from about 8.15am until around 7.00pm.
It may involve dealing with several new enquiries from clients, working on a major document or item, (drafting Particulars of Claim, dealing with disclosure), and perhaps a client meeting.
The challenge of competing against someone else, achieving a result for a client that they may not have thought possible, working with people far more intelligent than I am, from whom I can learn a great deal.
Work given to you with very little notice, which you have to complete to a very tight deadline, changing demands (both from colleagues and clients) to which you have to adapt quickly.
Challenging and stimulating, requires high levels of analytical skill, along with client-facing abilities, and the cut-and-thrust of testing yourself against the other side constantly.
BA/Hons, GDL, LPC.
I use the academic and intellectual skills that I have acquired from all of these courses, along with the practical skills that I have acquired from previous jobs.
Continuing Professional Development - must do 12 hours a year. I have trained to achieve my Higher Rights of Advocacy this year.

As a successful owner/equity partner in a small firm, or in my own firm.
Do applications galore, get as much work experience as possible, and do NOT be discouraged, as you will get a lot of rejections if you're anything like me!
