About the job

Main responsibilities

Providing Spanish instruction to students of all form levels and supervising members of the Department of Modern Language and Visual and Performing Arts.

Typical day

Recording student attendance, teaching students from Forms 1 to 5, carrying out clinical supervision of teachers in my department.

What do I enjoy about my job?

Interacting with my students.

Challenging aspects

Motivating students and dealing with administrative red tape.

Why did this area of work appeal to me?

I enjoy languages and teaching.

Teaching, conflict resolution, human resource management.

Work History:

Adjunct Lecturer - College of Science, Technology and Applied Arts;
Tutor - Centre for Language Learning, University of the West Indies.

Qualifications:

Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign and Second Language;
Post Graduate Diploma in Education;
MA TESOL (in progress).

Where do I see myself in the future?

Administrator of my own language school.

Carrying out research at the PhD.
