Kate -
Head of Public Fundraising
About the qualification

Why do this course?

I enjoyed the masters so much and because I am fascinated by the psychology of music.

About the job

Main responsibilities

I run the community fundraising and individual giving teams. We raise three quarters of a million pounds together as a department. My team are based in Sheffield, London, Newcastle and Manchester.

Typical day

On a typical day I'll be running income reports, checking printers proofs, carrying out 1-2-1's with my team, planning campaigns, thinking about fundraising and data regulations, coordinating logistics, training my team and much much more!

Career information

Brief history since leaving University

I have gone straight from the Masters to the PhD and as both were part time, I have carried on working alongside.

Where do I see myself in the future?

My vision of the future is to combine my PhD and my work experience in setting up or leading a charity using the arts to create social change.

Advice to students

My piece of advice to students

Music psychology is so exciting and something everyone can connect with. Think about ways to connect what you learn outside the world of arts.
