Graduate case studies
Even though many of our graduates will have progressed in their careers since completing a case study, they are still of interest to students who wish to gain an understanding of the world of work.
My remit is largely overseeing different elements of our various marketing and retail channels from social media, to paid search and content production.
On a typical day I spend time scheduling social posts, writing copy for blog posts and website content, creating paid social media ads, building search engine ad campaigns.
No two days are ever the same, we have to be quick and responsive while also looking forward to campaigns and seasons ahead. It keeps me busy and constantly challenged and engaged. I also get to travel to shoots and cover events as part of my role which is great.
We have big targets and strategic planning can sometimes be difficult but it challenges us to think of new ways to meet targets and do things differently to 'out' competitors.
It's fast paced and I get to spend time getting hands on with products I have an interest in and an industry I've always had an interest in.
Communication and analysis are the two skills I use the most. I have to be able to look at data and make decisions about strategy accordingly. I also need to be able to communicate these insights and ideas effectively to a team who will in turn be affected by them.
I'm currently undertaking a Google digital marketing course as part of my job. Other than that since leaving university I was working in breweries producing and selling craft beer, which was a pretty good job.
Hopefully my career will take me further into the world of fashion. There may be a chance for me to delve a bit further into content production, with a view to producing more editorial pieces.
Put the work in early and it should pay off eventually.
