Even though many of our graduates will have progressed in their careers since completing a case study, they are still of interest to students who wish to gain an understanding of the world of work.

About the job

Main responsibilities

I lead large technology projects and programmes for IBM's UK clients. I manage projects with budgets over over £5million and up to 50 full time employees based in both the UK and India. I am aligned to the Financial Services industry sector in IBM and offer specialist industry specific consulting knowledge as well as technical expertise.

Typical day

- Managing the work of my team
- Work with the client to meet their requirements and create new opportunities for IBM
- Manage the project budget
- Address risks and issues

What do I enjoy about my job?

No two days are the same. I am required to constantly respond to new challenges. My job is varied and it is all about dealing with people, both clients and colleagues.

Brief history since leaving University

PMP Project Management Professional certification, gained in January 2013

A range of professional technical qualifications that I gained through experience at work and formal and informal training.

Where do I see myself in the future?

I would like to progress to Partner and Vice President within IBM UK. In order to do this I will need to broaden my sales experience and lead the bids for large deals.
