Main responsibilities

- Represent the Scottish Government to international stakeholders.
- Lead on bi-lateral engagement with Russia and non-EU Europe.
- International Marketing.
- Support to Ministers.

Typical day

Providing advice to Ministers, liaising with Consuls and Embassies, responding to correspondence, authoring reports on current affairs and contributing to strategic documents.

Work experience is everything - jobs are ferociously competitive so word of mouth and showing that you understand how the civil service works is a huge advantage.
