Graduate case studies
Even though many of our graduates will have progressed in their careers since completing a case study, they are still of interest to students who wish to gain an understanding of the world of work.
Data entry and administration.
I enter the forms that research nurses fill in to keep us updated with patients' progress on our trials of myeloma drugs. I spend time doing data entry, chasing up forms, organising meetings, telling nurses, doctors, pharmacists, r+d people what they need to do, talking to the drug companies to ensure we have the latest safety info and to ensure we have enough of the study drug.
Seeing patients recover because of our drug.
Its repetitive, sometimes boring, and can be very busy.
I needed money so I could buy food. Its in research, which I wanted to do, but isn't in my area of interest and I'm not actually involved in the research.
They hired me because I have a masters.
Carer for a parent from finishing my masters until he died, then unemployed for 6 months.
I'd like a PhD but as a woman who wants a family soon that seems unrealistic. In my current job, I'll hopefully get promoted eventually to be a data manager, which involves checking the information we're sent.
Consider a PhD if you are passionate about research.
