It always begins with checking emails, social media and the internet, in general, to see what's new. The day will then revolve around creating content for the site and liasing with individuals who can assist with this. Sometimes this will be planned content and other times it will be ad-hoc, depending on what's happening not just that day but that hour - the web is fast paced and we have to react accordingly. As well as writing, I have to have a basic understanding of HTML and Photoshop.
It's varied, challenging and I work with a great team.
Time scales and deadlines, plus managing multiple things at once.
It's incredibly varied and I get to learn new things. I also get to test out new cameras, software and more.
The online world is fast-paced, never boring and always a challenge. I also get to write, every day, which I've always wanted to do.
The basics of news writing and creating engaging content.
Time management.
Multitasking.
Good communication skills.

After University I did work experience at several media outlets while having a part-time job until applying for a job where I work now. I have been at my current place of work for nine years now, progressing from an Editorial Assistant's role to managing the Editorial team.
Making my current publication bigger, better and more profitable.
Take advantage of any opportunities that come your way and don't be afraid of hard work. Be open to work experience, too, as you will learn so much 'on the job'. Also, learn as much as you can about the online media world as it's definitely the way forward.
