Graduate case studies
Even though many of our graduates will have progressed in their careers since completing a case study, they are still of interest to students who wish to gain an understanding of the world of work.
Project Management
All the projects are comprised of multi-discipline teams and therefore, requires us to communicate and share information with other groups. Activities on a day can vary from reviewing drawings of a component or system to visiting a factory witnessing testing to providing feedback to other teams located in another countries.
The challenges with respect to learning and implementing about new technologies in remote locations, travel to various project sites and networking with like minded individuals at various seminars and conferences is definitely refreshing.
In a relatively short span of 4 years I had the opportunity to work as a Mechanical Engineer through a full project lifecycle from Front End Engineering Design (FEED) to Commissioning phase of a project in the Upstream Offshore and Onshore Oil & Gas Industry. Now I work in the Downstream Sector of the Industry at an Integrated Refinery and Chemical Manufacturing Complex.
I can imagine myself as a project manager on a multi-million dollar oilfield development/modification project. In the short term I am working towards CEng status with IMechE.
