Project Management

Typical day

All the projects are comprised of multi-discipline teams and therefore, requires us to communicate and share information with other groups. Activities on a day can vary from reviewing drawings of a component or system to visiting a factory witnessing testing to providing feedback to other teams located in another countries.

Why did this area of work appeal to me?

The challenges with respect to learning and implementing about new technologies in remote locations, travel to various project sites and networking with like minded individuals at various seminars and conferences is definitely refreshing.


Career information

Brief history since leaving University

In a relatively short span of 4 years I had the opportunity to work as a Mechanical Engineer through a full project lifecycle from Front End Engineering Design (FEED) to Commissioning phase of a project in the Upstream Offshore and Onshore Oil & Gas Industry. Now I work in the Downstream Sector of the Industry at an Integrated Refinery and Chemical Manufacturing Complex.

Where do I see myself in the future?

I can imagine myself as a project manager on a multi-million dollar oilfield development/modification project. In the short term I am working towards CEng status with IMechE.
