Andrew -
Customer Experience Analyst

Even though many of our graduates will have progressed in their careers since completing a case study, they are still of interest to students who wish to gain an understanding of the world of work.

About the job

Main responsibilities

I have two main responsibilities in my role:

Market and Company Research: I research current and potential markets and technologies that the business could look at expanding into. This mainly focuses on high technology, space based instruments. I also analyse potential acquisition targets to see if they would fit well within the business and whether the markets that they are involved in are set to grow.

Customer Experience: I currently head up the Customer Experience Programme within e2v. This involves analysing our customers' feedback and feeding this back to the business. This is a relatively new field but is growing in importance across a number of organisations. This is a very data driven job, looking at regression analysis, big data sets and data trends.

Typical day

I do not have a general day to day job as my work changes every day depending on the needs of the business. Some days will be attending forums in London, others will be researching markets and companies, I may be talking with our customers (both internal and external) along with a wide range of other activities.

Skills/qualifications I use in my job?

Statistics, market awareness, economics etc.

Training I receive as part of my job

I started CIMA (chartered management accounting) and am also doing CIM (chartered marketing) - as well as this I have received project management training (formal qualification) along with green belt continuous improvement training. As well as these formal qualifications there have been a number of informal training sessions held for the graduates.
