Graduate case studies
Even though many of our graduates will have progressed in their careers since completing a case study, they are still of interest to students who wish to gain an understanding of the world of work.
Main responsibilities include, working with other members of a project team to:
-Undertake modelling and economic analysis, including econometrics
-Write reports
-Meet, engage with and present to clients
My days are varied and there is no typical day. However, in a given day I could be involved with:
-Internally meeting with the project team to plan/develop methodology
-Undertaking individual tasks e.g. modelling/writing/e-mails
-Meetings/calls with clients or other stakeholders
The fact that every day there is a new challenge e.g. a problem to solve, which means I am always stimulated.
Again, the fact that there is a new problem to solve each day is stimulating, and I enjoy the challenge.
It allows me to apply the economic principles we learn at university to real world problems.
My BSc Economics and MSc Economics qualifications are used on a daily basis
Economic Consulting, Deloitte LLP (2013-current)
Long term Intern, Frontier Economics, 2012
MSc Economics, LSE, 2011-2012
Form a clear view of where you want to begin a career (e.g. a sector or workplace), and have a step by step plan of how you'll get there (e.g. further degrees, internship). Do your research. It's always surprising how many people fail to prepare for important things. This applies to everything from course choices, to employment sectors, to the firm you may be interviewing with.
