Graduate case studies
Even though many of our graduates will have progressed in their careers since completing a case study, they are still of interest to students who wish to gain an understanding of the world of work.
Export, consulting with clients, providing quotations and processing orders, communicating in foreign languages with international customers, market research and analysis, translation of official documents.
I communicate with international clients, send quotes and process orders, verify that the company's products meet the customers' specifications and requirements, translate documents and carry out market research.
Communicating with customers in their own languages.
Learning an entirely different subject to that which I studied - business and metallurgy - and learning the necessary technical vocabulary in foreign languages.
The opportunity to work in an international context and use my foreign languages on a daily basis.
Foreign languages, communication, research, analytical, problem solving skills.
On the job training - no structured training. Reliant on personal self-teaching and asking for instruction or explanation when required.
Business Development Analyst for IT sales consultancy firm
Programme Coordinator/Facilitadora for Ministerio de Inclusion Economica y Social in Quito, Ecuador (projecto ETI - erradicacion del trabajo infantil)
International Sales Executive for a steel company
International & Communications Assistant for a Latin American charity
Spanish tutoring (self-employed)
I hope to re-enter the charity/non-profit sector eventually, after gaining more voluntary experience in my field of interest. I am doing this in my free time - my current job is a simple 9-5 job so it allows me time to gain additional experience in other areas.
You need to be willing to work voluntarily as an intern in many fields in order to gain experience, before being offered a job. It takes time and patience!
