About the job

Main responsibilities

I work in the Software Asset Management and Anti-Piracy department, within a team of four managing SAM engagements for medium-sized companies (from 250 to 8000 seats). My main responsibility is to initiate SAM review engagements with customers, supporting them with their queries and timescales until the completion and return of their review form which will then be passed on to an engagement manager to work on.
I also manage engagements relating to customer's contractual obligation to report annual growth in their licensing estate.

Typical day

A typical day would start at 8 am when I'd check emails and review outstanding work and reminders in my diary. When I have a batch of SAM engagement reviews. I will register them individually as an opportunity in our systems, then check when was the most recent review/audit completed by them and what was the outcome, obtain Head of IT details from account managers and send out an initiation email. Otherwise I could be attending meetings between engagement managers and account managers, training courses either in physical classrooms or delivered virtually to my laptop, or shadowing on of the engagement managers to learn their roles.

What do I enjoy about my job?

I enjoy working in one of the most successful companies in the world, in an industry that has become essential in running families to hospitals to governments. My job allows me to constantly learn about technology

Why did this area of work appeal to me?

It was a good opportunity to be part of the Microsoft family and gain skills and knowledge that will put me in good stead to explore other avenues within the industry.
