Even though many of our graduates will have progressed in their careers since completing a case study, they are still of interest to students who wish to gain an understanding of the world of work.

About the job

Main responsibilities

International projects risk assessment and underwriting;
lead and operate the team

Typical day

Reading economic, legal materials of a particular project;
analyzing and studying risk profiles of different projects and prepare reports;
meeting with project sponsor, people from banks and industrial companies.

What do I enjoy about my job?

Applying economic and financial knowledge to the real world.

Challenging aspects

Bridge the cultural differences of different institutions.

Why did this area of work appeal to me?

Creative, dynamic, diversification and challenges.

Skills/qualifications I use in my job?

Mainly the economic and financial analytical skills and the language skills (English).

Training I receive as part of my job

Principles and practices of modern finance;
International financial law and practices.


Career information

Brief history since leaving University

After graduation I only worked for one company, China Export & Credit Insurance Corporation, the official export credit agency of Chinese government. Became the underwriter in 2007 and the division head in 2012.

Where do I see myself in the future?

Would like to be a senior professional and team leader in the coming years. Would continue to pursue relevant degrees like an MBA or in a legal area (e.g. international financial law).


Advice to students

My piece of advice to students

Be prepared to start from a low level;
Keep the ability to learn;
Be good at communication and expressing your ideas.
