Geology Superintendent

Even though many of our graduates will have progressed in their careers since completing a case study, they are still of interest to students who wish to gain an understanding of the world of work.

About the job

Main responsibilities

Supervising two sections in one of the main oil company in Libya. These sections are: 1) wellsite section, which supervising drilling activity. 2) geological lab. Following up geological studies in the company.

Typical day

1) Seriously review and correct daily geological report, which covers (usually) from 8-10 wells.
2) Supervising people work. Reviewing geological studies reports.
3) Preparing the budget of the exploration Department in the company.
4) Dealing with invoices of the related work.
5) Attending weekly meeting in the company management.
6) Preparing training plan for the current and newly hired employees in the Exploration Department.

What do I enjoy about my job?

Intresting in exploring and developing more oil in my country.

Challenging aspects

As you know, nothing is guarenteed in exploring oil drilling. Sometimes, after doing home work we still failed to get oil.

Skills/qualifications I use in my job?

Subsurface interpreter (including loging and software related to oil industry) . Wellsite duty experience (including field work duty in 10 years). In addition to education carrer.

Where do I see myself in the future?

I am trying to prove myself in this position. Looking forward to rebuilding my country, particulary after the revolution.
