Graduate case studies
Even though many of our graduates will have progressed in their careers since completing a case study, they are still of interest to students who wish to gain an understanding of the world of work.
Knowing our portfolio of products inside-out! Writing tasting notes and literature for the portfolio every year, seeking new wines, having a specialist knowledge of Italian wines in general.
Looking after customers (restaurants, hotels, retailers) includes training them on wines, choosing wines for them for their wine list.
Looking after suppliers (Italian wine producers) includes maintaining friendly relationship, speaking to them about their wines, organizing events with them, etc.

I am working with something I am interested in, which helps make work less depressing!
Sometimes the hours are annoying - weekends and evening events. The marketplace is always a challenge - competition is high and persuading people to buy higher-end wines can be tricky.
I spent my year abroad in Bordeaux and got into wine.
Languages - mainly Italian. Writing skills - literature and press releases. Communication - communication about wine can be hard sometimes, finding something to say other than "I like it" or "I don't like it"!
Business knowledge - sales - knowing how to close an order, negotiate prices with both customers and suppliers.
Operations - being organized, knowing how to manage delivery routes etc.
