Even though many of our graduates will have progressed in their careers since completing a case study, they are still of interest to students who wish to gain an understanding of the world of work.

Typical day

Morning spent teaching in local schools, afternoon planning and teaching at our centre.

What do I enjoy about my job?

Seeing the students use English outside of the classroom.

Challenging aspects

Class management in local schools (big classes).

Why did this area of work appeal to me?

It caters for a variety of different types of student.

Skills/qualifications I use in my job?

Organisational, inter-personal, diplomacy, and experience/teacher training qualifications.

Advice to students

My piece of advice to students

Try a voluntary teaching programme during the holidays and - if you like it - take a CELTA course.

Don't go into EFL teaching just to travel - it is a job, not a holiday!
