Business Analyst
About the job

Main responsibilities

- Systems, process and data modelling/mapping
- Specification writing for system development handover
- Business intelligence and applications analysis
- Internal team reporting
- Some project management aspects

Typical day

Generally, each day starts with individual training (usually 30 minutes) before reviewing emails and day's tasks. Question is difficult to answer as the project-based nature of my work means that no one-day is the same as another. Usually though, depending on project status I'll be gathering information from stakeholder meetings, modelling data schemas, mapping processes, writing-up development specifications or analysing data. The majority of days are taken up with short meetings and project work in-between.

Career information

Brief history since leaving University

- Volkswagen Financial Services (L&D Analyst): 2018-2019
- ITIL 4 Foundation (2022)
- CMI & CIPD qualifications (2020)
- Studying for ECBA (hopefully 2022)

Where do I see myself in the future?

The organisation I work in is at the beginning of it's new strategic plan, so the future is hard to answer. My aspirations are currently to stay within Business Analysis, with a focus on Business Intelligence over applications. I also have aspirations to manage but when that is/what that looks like is anyone's guess!

Qualifications wise, within the next few years I want to acquire my IIBA certifications and any other relevant qualifications the IT team completes.
