Content Executive
About the job

Main responsibilities

My job is the perfect mix of creativity and marketing. I work closely with both the creative and marketing team to write content to help our customers find print to help their businesses flourish!

Typical day

As soon as I get into work in the morning, I check my tasks for the week. After that, no day is ever the same! I could be writing a blog about business card hacks, or an email to launch a new product.

What do I enjoy about my job?

It's got to be the people. Everyone who works at instantprint is so positive, and we all really care about making a difference to small businesses with high-quality, affordable print. Everyone supports each other too - if you're unsure about something or want some feedback or help, all you have to do is ask.

Why did this area of work appeal to me?

Writing has always come naturally to me, but copywriting is a completely different ball game. Working in this area has provided a great way to progress the skills I learnt at university and learn brand new skills related to marketing, which I'm still doing every day. It's also exciting getting to work on the cutting edge of the print industry - we're always investing in the latest machinery which is incredible to witness in action, and I get to play a part in launching new products to our clients.

Career information

Brief history since leaving University

After graduation, I started out working in a school as a teaching assistant, which I loved - but I also knew I didn't really want to be a teacher. So, I went from helping 10 year olds to learn their short division to working as a content editor for an apprenticeships company! Here, I was given the opportunity to try my hand at research and writing. I found that I really enjoyed it and wanted to pursue this further, so I applied for the Content Executive position at instantprint, and here I am!

Where do I see myself in the future?

As the team continues to grow, I'd love to take on more responsibility, whether that's leading on more projects or being accountable for another team member. For now, I'm learning as much as I can in an ever-developing industry!

Advice to students

Other comments

During my time at university, I wasn't sure what career I wanted to pursue - but I knew I wanted to use the writing skills I'd developed on the course. Studying English at Sheffield meant I was a perfect fit for my current role as Content Executive at instantprint. With daily tasks consisting of writing blogs, emails and product copy, I can keep doing what I love - writing!
