Laura -
Business Analyst
About the job

Main responsibilities

My main duties as a Business Analyst are to create a detailed analysis of a current and 'to-be' process/IT solution by outlining problems, opportunities and solutions for a business.

Typical day

Day to day activities vary but usually consist of;
Speaking with the client / holding workshops / conducting interviews with Subject Matter Experts and listening to their current pain points and what the future process/IT system needs to deliver for them.
Working with Developers and Functional Consultants to see how we might achieve these requirements.
Taking possible solutions back to the client
Writing up the requirements in User Stories
Creating documentation e.g. tube maps
Supporting Testers, who test the functionality works as expected

What do I enjoy about my job?

Seeing the difference my role makes on a project and the difference the project will make for our clients. I've been lucky enough to work on a NHS project and I'm currently working on a Brexit project.

Challenging aspects

This role was completely new to me, so there is a lot to learn. Every new project has its own challenges but this allows you to continually grow and develop.

Why did this area of work appeal to me?

This job enables me to take on a good level of responsibility and there is a variety of projects that you can work on

No matter your degree or industry background, if you're interested in a job in Consultancy, I encourage you to look at Capgemini's grad schemes as they look to employee people from a range of backgrounds and/or without industry experience (including myself!)
