PhD
About the qualification

Why do this course?

I wanted to further my interest in biomedical research and specialise in stem cell biology and regenerative medicine. I also knew that having a PhD would provide me a wealth of career opportunities to explore later on

Career information

Brief history since leaving University

Graduated from Sheffield in July 2017 and started my PhD soon after, in August 2017.

Where do I see myself in the future?

I'd like to stay within the biomedical sciences and move into industry for R&D. I also have an interest in entrepreneurship and would love to explore biotech/biomed startups

Advice to students

My piece of advice to students

The course I pursued at Sheffield and the decision to do a PhD were both driven by a strong love for biology and an insatiable curiosity to learn new things. If this sounds familiar and relatable to you, definitely consider exploring biological sciences. There are several career pathways and lots of opportunities available (lab and non-lab based) to apply your knowledge and you'll always be in demand as the world of healthcare expands!
