Graduate case studies
Even though many of our graduates will have progressed in their careers since completing a case study, they are still of interest to students who wish to gain an understanding of the world of work.
Overall care of hoofstock, cleaning out houses and yards, and helping out with the general responsibilities needed to keep the park up and running.
After letting out animals into the reserve, removing all old bedding and waste matter, making sure all pens are clean, before replacing with new bedding and feed for the animals. Other side activities could include giving talks at the hippo encounter, collecting new straw/hay bales from the store, and following the last car round the reserve so gates can be locked.
This is my first job since leaving university, starting in February this year. Through the doing the job I will be gaining more skills I become trained in different activities.
I would to see myself still working with animals, perhaps still doing what I'm doing or being further up the ladder. I have no specific career plans, just as long as it has to do with my degree and it is enjoyable.
Make sure it is definitely something you want to do, as it is hard work, physically and mentally, and it will require you to work long and perhaps unsociable hours.
