Nicola -
Solutions Architect

Even though many of our graduates will have progressed in their careers since completing a case study, they are still of interest to students who wish to gain an understanding of the world of work.

About the job

Main responsibilities

I help to support, design and manage the cloud-based offerings within Fujitsu.

Typical day

Liaise with partners and customers to determine how our solutions can help them, and how to progress forward. Help fix any problems when all up and running.

What do I enjoy about my job?

I enjoy having so much responsibility and training so early on. I get to use my new skills to communicate and help customers.

Challenging aspects

I'm still very new to the role! So at the moment it's mainly lack of knowledge in these areas.

Why did this area of work appeal to me?

Cloud services like Azure AWS are only increasing in popularity. I find it very interesting to see and deploy these services.

Career information

Brief history since leaving University

Straight from uni to this graduate role - currently less than a year in, and have gained training in Microsoft Azure, AWS and CommVault.

Where do I see myself in the future?

I'm still very unsure as to my future paths. At the moment I'm on a two year scheme, so will see what skills I have learnt and what I am enjoying more towards the end of this.

Advice to students

My piece of advice to students

Networking is very important in my role - if I want to change projects, it's very easy to do so, so long as I have the right connections! Keep in contact with other grads, volunteer for as much as you can, and keep your linkedIn up to date.

Send Nicola a question about their career.
