About the job

Main responsibilities

Partner and Head of Department for Employment Law.

Typical day

I predominantly work with small and medium sized enterprises to manage employee issues, defend employment tribunal claims, enforce restrictive covenants / confidentiality provisions and advise on business restructuring.

I manage the Employment Tribunal Advocacy offering of Ironmonger Curtis, regularly representing businesses in the Employment Tribunal from first instruction to final hearing.

I also provide TUPE guidance and employment law support in corporate transaction. My work is predominately for businesses but I also work with directors, senior employees, partners and key stakeholders in negotiating disputes and / or settlement agreements.

What do I enjoy about my job?

It is dynamic, interesting and I get to speak to business people every day.

Challenging aspects

Dealing with high pressure situations can be stressful. This can be caused by time constraints, complexity or the potential large value of an instruction.

Why did this area of work appeal to me?

I always wanted to be a lawyer and employment law suited me really well as it has a mix of legal, practical and business focused advice.

Skills/qualifications I use in my job?

Legal.
