Graduate case studies
Even though many of our graduates will have progressed in their careers since completing a case study, they are still of interest to students who wish to gain an understanding of the world of work.
Currently, I help clients understand and optimise their campaigns. I'm part of the services team and report on the associated metrics for each campaign and help improve the way customers use our site.
A typical day is split between strategy and client management. Some days I'll be working to build campaigns and make sure they're working correctly, other days I'll be looking at campaign success and helping my team decide on the direction we want our clients to go.
Working with a wide range of clients is really fulfilling. It's nice to be able to dip in and out of helping a variety of customers with different problems rather than working on one constantly.
Some clients can be quite tough to deal with but that's the nature of working at any agency. It's challenging yet rewarding to solve.
It's a data led technology company that is at the cutting edge of marketing. There's very few others doing this sort of work and the team I work with are all experts in a niche but growing field.
The ability to think critically and rationally is key. Everyone can pick up a head for data but being able to utilise that knowledge and come up with a campaign that makes sense is invaluable.
After university I went to work in a marketing department for a small construction company in my hometown. It was enjoyable but I quickly realised I wanted more from my career. I took 2 months out to travel South America and returned to my current job in London. Since moving down to London I've picked up a whole host of skills, mainly around data and analysis.
At the moment I'm looking to become a consultant. Digital marketing is a really-in-demand field and optimisation consultants are at the pinnacle of this movement. Beyond that I'm undecided, I'm not one to plan too far in advance!
Make sure you try a few different professions. I was lucky to find my favourite area early on but some people are still yet to settle on something. Try out a few internships - the earlier you can find what you enjoy, the quicker you can start progressing. Internships are kind of like trying before you buy, don't just look at them as a way to bulk up your CV.
