Edward -
Global Artist Relations and Brand Projects, Manager EMEA

Even though many of our graduates will have progressed in their careers since completing a case study, they are still of interest to students who wish to gain an understanding of the world of work.

About the job

Main responsibilities

My role consists of managing the Global Artist Relations programme for Europe, the Middle East and Africa for Audio-Technica and it's distributed brands, reporting to the head office in Japan. Working with a team throughout Europe, I search opportunities for the brand with artists and collaborations, giving advice on equipment, striking deals and creating material for Global Social Media and sales materials.

Typical day

In a typical day I will advise on audio-equipment for touring artists, studio engineers, live engineers, artists and audio industry professionals. I will work on contracts and deals with new and existing opportunities. I will work with the social media teams to create rich content for the brand to use globally.

What do I enjoy about my job?

Working with like minded people, and helping make exciting things happen.

Challenging aspects

There is always a lot of work to do, and a lot of deadlines. Working with touring artists and equipment can often lead to last minute high pressure situations, which are stressful, but ultimately rewarding.

Why did this area of work appeal to me?

I have always had an interest in music. Before coming to Sheffield, I did an undergraduate in Music at York, and throughout my time in Sheffield I was touring in a pop band. Working in the industry was a natural progression.

Skills/qualifications I use in my job?

My job is a combination of the areas I learnt on my Masters degree, and life experience
