Graduate case studies
Even though many of our graduates will have progressed in their careers since completing a case study, they are still of interest to students who wish to gain an understanding of the world of work.
Working within the Human Resources team, I mainly support the Head Office staff with all HR related queries and issues. Key responsibilities include recruitment, employee relations, payroll management, processing pensions, job offers and issuing contracts, HR projects.
There is no typical day as the nature of the role is very varied. This could include: looking after personal pensions, holiday and absence management, carrying out risk assessments, assisting staff with any pay-related/personal queries, supporting the maternity/paternity process, onboarding new starters and helping with training & induction, carrying out right to work checks.
The variety of it, no two days are the same and it is always challenging, making you think on your feet and approach each situation carefully.
Analytical skills learnt in history, communication skills learnt from group/presentation work, written skills learnt from assignment, social skills learnt from society participation at university.
