Customer Success Executive

Even though many of our graduates will have progressed in their careers since completing a case study, they are still of interest to students who wish to gain an understanding of the world of work.

About the job

Main responsibilities

Point of contact and strategic consultant for top tier customers in EMEA.

Typical day

Online meetings with customers checking in on current projects, preparing for full day onsite customer meetings throughout the region, collaborating with both local and global colleagues on improving our product and servicing our customers.

What do I enjoy about my job?

Making a difference and seeing when our customers suddenly "get it" and understand that they need to value their colleagues in their support department. These are usually the lowest paid, hardest working people in the organisation and they are far too often looked down upon.

Challenging aspects

Changing senior people's perspective on the above.

Why did this area of work appeal to me?

I have always felt that there was a gap between Marketing and Support, and I never understood why as the two disciplines are strongly connected. This is exactly what we advocate to our customers as strategic success consultants and what customer experience is all about.

Skills/qualifications I use in my job?

Understanding of cultural differences, consumer behaviour, branding, marketing and communication.

Advice to students

My piece of advice to students

You have to be able to put yourself in someone else's shoes - colleagues, customers, end users. Empathy is what will make you successful. Never be afraid to get your hands dirty and never think you are better or worth more than the person on "the floor". You're not.

Other comments

Make sure you are happy both when you wake up in the morning and when you go to bed at night. It's all that matters. Do what you are passionate about, then it'll be easy. Be flexible. Jobs, organisations, trends will never be static.
