Graduate case studies
Because it fitted my former experiences in Diabetes Epidemiology
Project management, data extraction, data analysis, scientific writing, proofreading, supervising doctoral students in medicine as well as bachelor and master students in health sciences
I will probably have 1 or 2 project meetings, I might be contacted by students to support them in their projects and I will work on finishing off my own projects. I will probably also support other colleagues in their projects by giving an insight from my perspective or helping them with their English writing.
I graduated in summer 2012 and was unemployed until February 2013 where I started as a Junior Professional Officer at the International Diabetes Federation. I got promoted to become a Public Health Administrator a year later and left the organization in May 2015 to start working at the German Diabetes Center (DDZ) where I am still 100% employed and doing my PhD at the same time.
After finishing my PhD I am planning to leave academia and either go into industry or work for an NGO again.
Do as many internships as possible! Don't expect to get a job straight after graduation, it might take a while especially since Public Health is very broad and opportunities are diverse.
