About the job

Main responsibilities

Facility maintenance and engineering in an aviation fuel terminal.

Typical day

Engineering, housekeeping of plant equipment, conduct overhaul and upgrade development of all plant equipment. Liaise with contractors for service contract.

What do I enjoy about my job?

Being able to handle problems and projects. Making decisions for solutions.

Challenging aspects

To meet deadlines in a tight time frame.
Sometimes resources are limited.

Why did this area of work appeal to me?

I can put my technical skill and knowledge in use. Gave me the opportunity to have a glimpse at cutting edge technology in the industry. To be able to solve problems.

Skills/qualifications I use in my job?

My knowledge in engineering and safety, IT skills.
My communication and presentation skills.

Where do I see myself in the future?

Earning Chartered Engineer status.


Advice to students

My piece of advice to students

It's not an easy path. But being passionate with an open mind will eventually take you to the right opportunities and right people.
Always seek opportunities to learn and grow and be enthusiastic about it.
