Graduate case studies
Even though many of our graduates will have progressed in their careers since completing a case study, they are still of interest to students who wish to gain an understanding of the world of work.
Teaching and learning
Supervision
Administrative
Research
I undertake the following:
- Deliver lectures
- Lab demonstrations
- Supervision of research students
- Administrative work
- Catching up with current research-related materials
- Rather flexible working hours and places (field work)
- Substantial amount of 'freedom'
- Encourages creativity and innovation
- Seemingly deteriorating students' quality
- Paperwork / records
- A sense of fulfilment for helping to shape the future generation (rhetorical as it may seem)
- The PhD is a must to be a University Lecturer
- The research skills i picked up at Sheffield (thanks to Dr Charles Hird)- are now transferred to my students
- Confidence from having been through the mill, in a good way :)
- Basic teaching skills
- Continuous improvement with seminars, conferences, symposiums, etc.
2009 - 2011: Post-doctoral Researcher at the Port and Airport Research Institute, Japan
2012 - present: Auditor for the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) - overseeing quality of educational programmes in the country
A professional engineer certification (following the pathway fro academician)
To fail to plan is to plan to fail (cliché perhaps, but it works for me)
A doctoral study is a journey, not a destination... and it begins just when you thought it has ended
