Career information

Brief history since leaving University

Temped for a while until I started at Robert Walters on the graduate Research team. Headhunting newly qualified accountants out of the Big 4 accountancy firms. After 8 months, I joined the investment management team as a recruiter and built relationships with different types of clients and placed qualified and part-qualified accountants at them.

Moved to AXA Investment Managers before the crisis as as part of the Retail and Institutional Client Service team. Answering client queries and issues, ensuring sales team had all necessary marketing materials and that they were up to date. Preparing presentations for consultant relations team. Also I was heavily involved in the CRM tool's development and roll out in the UK.

My husband was offered a project in Melbourne so I resigned from AXA IM and went with him. I worked at a large Australian bank called ANZ in their FX post-trade relationship team. Basically, ensuring clients used ANZ for any FX transactions and building relationships with small businesses across Australia.

Advice to students

My piece of advice to students

Do work experience during every holiday period. Speak to all the different contacts you have at the university, at your school, friends' parents, applying directly to companies. This work experience is invaluable. I cannot stress this enough.
