Even though many of our graduates will have progressed in their careers since completing a case study, they are still of interest to students who wish to gain an understanding of the world of work.

About the job

Main responsibilities

Providing support to projects for the Defence organisations such as MOD, Rolls Royce and BAE Systems.

Typical day

Reviewing various system documents and inputting them into modelling software to analyse. Then taking that analysis and making it clear and concise to present our findings in order to advise them if their system is deemed safe by current regulations.

What do I enjoy about my job?

The opportunity to work abroad on various projects, which demands a different combination of skill sets from me.

Challenging aspects

Being flexible with time and location in order to provide a high quality service to our customers

Opportunity to work on a broad range of critical projects and the opportunity to publish a technical paper.

Skills/qualifications I use in my job?

My degree gives me a sound theoretical knowledge to apply to situations. The use of modelling software and Microsoft Excel enables me demonstrate my findings in a more clear way to the customer.

Advice to students

My piece of advice to students

The learning experience at university goes far beyond the lecture theatres. Volunteer with children and adults from other cultures, get a part time job regardless what relevance it has to your future career and take an active role in a society.
