About the job

Main responsibilities

Teaching undergraduate students and help guide postgraduate research students in the Department of Veterinary Anatomy and Histology, Member Departmental Board of Studies.

Typical day

Our office timings are from Monday to Saturday to teach undergraduate students by using Multimedia and conducting laboratory experiments relating to Gross Anatomical and histological work.

What do I enjoy about my job?

As my basic appointment was made as Lecturer in Veterinary Anatomy & Histology, SAU Tando Jam Pakistan and during this job I am really enjoying by learning both teaching and research skills.

To enhance the quality of teaching and research skills as well as social activities.

Why did this area of work appeal to me?

Have a DVM degree in which variety of professional subjects relating to animal husbandry & Veterinary field including Fish Biology are taught. Have a MSc (Hons) in Vet: Anatomy & Histology in which teaching and gaining research experiences are involved. Also have a degree of Master of Philosophy from the Department of Animal & Plant Sciences, University of Sheffield, UK where lot of research and laboratory techniques were learned under the experienced and highly qualified supervisors.

Skills/qualifications I use in my job?

Mostly delievering lectures in front of audience and also using multimedia in the classrooms.

Training I receive as part of my job

Training in Animal Production and Health from Egypt. Training in teaching and research skills from Pakistan, and more research experience from the University of Sheffield, UK.


Career information

Brief history since leaving University

From October 1989 to August 2006 worked University Teacher at the Sindh Agriculture University Tando Jam Pakistan.
From September 2006 to June 2009 was a Postgraduate Research student at the University of Sheffield, UK. From July 2009 to December 2012 lived with my family in Canada where my job was not relevent to my field. From January 2013 to date, working as Assistant Professor in Vet: Anatomy, SAU Tando Jam Pakistan.

Where do I see myself in the future?

If there is any chance will complete PhD from abroad preferably from the University of Sheffield, UK.

My piece of advice to students

Hard work is key to success. Developing self-confidence is also a key factor in getting first job.
