Graduate case studies
Even though many of our graduates will have progressed in their careers since completing a case study, they are still of interest to students who wish to gain an understanding of the world of work.
Headteacher of the school in charge of teaching, finance, staffing, building management, government relations and marketing.
Start work before 8am.
Staff briefing to share with others the diverse range of activities happening in the school during the day.
Meet with parents & students who have concerns or are a concern for the school.
Meet with teachers and admin staff to oversee plans of activities for most of the day.
Break & lunch duty.
Look at school results, finances and marketing plans.
Observe lessons and student conduct.
Meet with other local headteachers and government officials to build community links.
Finish work between 6 and 7pm.
Making plans and seeing them come through. Helping others to develop in their role.
Staff who only see the school from their own perspective in the classroom who are unable to realise they are part of a bigger organisation with its own needs.
I started as a teacher of ICT because I didn't feel I had experienced good ICT teaching at school. I enjoyed it very much.I moved up as I felt I could do a better job than those above me.

Get as much work experience as possible. Read around your subject; you won't learn much from the lectures compared to your own directed reading.
Teaching is very rewarding, but the hours are long - compensated for by the holidays!
