Graduate case studies
Even though many of our graduates will have progressed in their careers since completing a case study, they are still of interest to students who wish to gain an understanding of the world of work.
Writing articles for three different sectoral magazines, about bank management, finance and technology, and also writing a daily newsletter about technology management.
I usually start my day by researching the articles I have to write and looking for sources, like research companies and international news sites. Then in the afternoon I put together all the press releases I have received during the day and I put together the newsletter,
That we can offer executives and directors of the financial, technology and banking sector, interesting opinions coming from their peers and also research that they will find useful in their line of work. Also, we give them the chance to write articles themselves and express their opinions and worries about the sector/market they work in.
The most challenging part is finding a way to write two ways, both in a simple daily way for our newsletter and then more "professionally" for the magazines which are read by executives and directors.
It combines my love for writing, both news and articles, and also learning new things about technology management, which is something I am very interesting in.
Mainly writing and research skills but you also need a good view of the markets you write about in order to be able to locate interesting news that will catch the eye of the reader.
None at the moment but almost every day I have the opportunity to learn new things, through the articles that I am researching.
Responsible for the content of an entertainment website, including cinema, theater, music, concerts, TV and general entertainment. (3 years)
Head of online content for the company I work for now for all of the companies 7 websites. (5 years)
Current job (2 years until now)
I would like to be able to take more responsibility in the process of preparing a magazine before it goes to print. So my next goal would be an editor-in-chief position.
Obviously be prepared to work hard and long hours and maybe for very little money. Try to be patient if you really love what you do and always be resilient with the people your work with. Don't try to force your opinion, because in journalism it is not always needed/wanted. Sometimes you just have to present your job / the facts without expressing yourself.
