About the job

Main responsibilities

My main responsibilities are to provide support to statistical analyses at the institution and to develop and apply methods that require high level of stats and maths.

Typical day

In a typical day I am involved with data analyses, programming and plenty of reading.

What do I enjoy about my job?

The challenge of facing problems without answer, or most of the times, problems that are not properly addressed with the specific statistical tools.

Challenging aspects

The most challenging aspect is the "language", not the real language, but it is hard to match the vocabulary used by a statistician and the vocabulary used by, for instance, medical doctors.

Why did this area of work appeal to me?

As a statistician with a good maths background I believe my knowledge may be useful to solve public health problems in my country.

Skills/qualifications I use in my job?

Training I receive as part of my job

I still learning about public health and epidemiology.
