Main responsibilities

Delivering Religion and Philosophy lessons to years 7-13

Typical day

Get into work to prepare lessons
Teach classes of all age ranges
Run clubs at lunch time or after school. I run the Philosophy Society and help to run a charitable society.
Attend departmental meetings once a week and whole school meetings occasionally.
Undertake training
I also examine for exam boards and I taught at a summer school for 2 weeks over the summer - coordinating the Philosophy course.

Brief history since leaving University

Undertook MRes in Philosophy at the University of East Anglia

Went on to do PGCE in Religious Education at the University of East Anglia

Taught in a comprehensive school in North Norfolk for 9 months

Taught in independent selective girls school in Hertfordshire for 2 years

Was head of department at Worksop College, boarding school in Nottinghamshire

Started MA and PhD at the University of Birmingham, funded by the ESRC

Where do I see myself in the future?

I would like to work in academia or research one day.
