About the job

Main responsibilities

Daily oversight of market prices. Liaising with Chinese buyers on a daily basis. Maintaining sales figures.

Typical day

Keeping in daily contact with production plants and buyers around the world on commodity prices.
Developing new sales leads and potential customers / suppliers.

What do I enjoy about my job?

The thrill of buying and selling items on a daily basis - maintaining profit levels and developing new items.
Regular travel to production plants around EUR and regular trips to see clients in the Far East.

Ensuring quality is maintained. Minimilising risk factors in potential deals

Why did this area of work appeal to me?

Daily involvement with the Far East and an option to develop business and establish office in the region in the future.

Opening a China branch within our company.


Advice to students

My piece of advice to students

First Job - look to find a job which plays to your skill set and interests - the Chinese aspect can always be worked towards in the future once you are more senior and established within a sector / role.
