What do I enjoy about my job?

(1) A collaborative team;
(2) The action of using sustainable agricultural products for various applications such as personal care, food and industrial application.

Challenging aspects

The need to catch-up with established (petro)chemical players in terms of finding the suitable chemicals derived from agricultural products to deliver equivalent/superior application performance.

Why did this area of work appeal to me?

There are lots of business growth and personal development opportunities for chemicals derived from agricultural products.

Skills/qualifications I use in my job?

Good old particle science technology for product developments ( e.g. powder products).
Communications skills (writing and verbal).
Computer modelling.
Plant troubleshooting/optimization.


Career information

Brief history since leaving University

Seven years in oil majors. Worked as process engineer and technical sales engineer.
Joined IChemE since university time.

Where do I see myself in the future?

Products development and commercialization.
Working to be a chartered engineer.


Advice to students

My piece of advice to students

When I graduated, one of my supervisors advised me to find a young company/developing technology domain because it is easier to grow my own pasture. Avoid old/mature technology domain.
