Even though many of our graduates will have progressed in their careers since completing a case study, they are still of interest to students who wish to gain an understanding of the world of work.
Administering the university, updating curriculum, development works, research, co-curricular activities of students
Meetings with administrators.
Meetings with faculty and officers.
Meetings with management.
Signing certificates.
Scouting activities.
Rotary activities.
Meeting new students every year. Interacting with students. Being able to impart enthusiasm and interest among the students. Being able to update subjects. Research and development.
Surprises. You never know what is coming next. Inter-personal problems, gender issues, a student or staff involved in an accident. A student winning a prize.
Being involved in academics is a very rewarding experience.
Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) to get in as a Lecturer. I then did my Master of Architecture (M.Arch); both of these from Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET). My PhD was from Sheffield 1987, where I also pursued post-doctoral research 1997-98, 10 years after my PhD.
Continued to teach at the Dept of Architecture, BUET.
Commonwealth Fellowship in the UK to pursue post-doctoral research on Architecture at the University of Sheffield in 1997-1998.
Provided consulting to building projects.
Authored 'Architecture for the Young' (Bangla), published by Bangla Academy, Dhaka, 2000, and 'Acoustics for Architects', published by BUET, Dhaka, 2010.
I am involved in research in rural Bangladesh with BUET funding, as well as research on fire safety.
Was employed as Vice Chancellor September 2016.
Continuing teaching and research.
Work hard and focus on your target.
I loved Sheffield, and often miss it. Often think of going back for a short stint.
