Tax Manager for Wealth Management unit in EMEA.

Typical day

Oversight and risk management of all tax aspects of our Wealth Management line of business in EMEA.

What do I enjoy about my job?

No two days the same. A mixture of large long and medium term complex projects and day to day one-off queries and issues. Requirements for practical solutions. Working with colleagues from all over the world.

Challenging aspects

Demanding clients. Pressure to find a solution where no perfect solution may exist.

Why did this area of work appeal to me?

Tax requires intellectual rigour and precision but also demands practicality and pragmatism. Finding a balance is always an enjoyable challenge.

Skills/qualifications I use in my job?

Problem identification and solving. Legal analysis. Diplomacy.

On-going continuing professional development.


Career information

Brief history since leaving University

1997-1998 - Bar Vocational Course - Nottingham Law School.

1998-2005 - KPMG. Tax graduate recruit. Qualified as a Chartered Tax Advisor in 2001.

2005 - Present. Current employer. Initially as Associate, now Managing Director as of 2016.

Where do I see myself in the future?

Continuing with my present employer. No immediate plans for further qualifications at this time.

Stand out (in a good way). Speak a 2nd language.
