Developing your attributes and skills

In this course, you’ll get the chance to explore your own attributes and skills, why they are important and how you can develop them further.

The attributes and skills that we will concentrate on include:

  • adaptability, flexibility and resilience
  • collaboration
  • commercial awareness
  • communication
  • critical thinking
  • efficiency
  • global awareness
  • innovation
  • leadership
  • self development

Once acquired, these attributes and skills can be transferred into the workplace (known as transferable skills).

Here’s an example of attributes and skills in action.

Sarah has just started work as a recruitment consultant. Try our balloon quiz and see if you can identify the key attributes and skills that she uses in her day.

Without realising it, you will have already gained many skills and attributes through your coursework, work experience and extracurricular activities. This course will help you explore these in more detail. As a start, work through our audit to rate your level of confidence and identify which key attributes and skills to reflect and develop first.

Now you’ve completed your audit, move onto Section 2: Key attributes and skills and select which attributes or skills you’d like to work on, based on the results of the audit.
